Abstract (EN)

MR EVALUATION OF THE PALMAR ARCH VARIATIONSPurpose:Superficial and deep palmar arches supply the feeding of hand. These two arches provide the circulation balance by some compansatory variations. It is important to know the vascular anatomy of the hand for the reconstruction of congenital anomalies, posttraumatic lesions and arterial by-pass surgery. The aim of this study is to emphasize the knowledge of the vascular variations of the hand and determine the incidance of each type using TRICKS MRA.Material and Methods:In our study TRICKS MRA images (Coronal T1W- FSE, coronal STIR and 3D dynamic TRICKS sequences) of 30 patients which are obtained with various initial diagnosis between the dates 01. 01. 2010 and 31. 07. 2012 using GE Signa HDx 1, 5 T device, were used for evaluating palmar arch variations.Findings:TRICKS MRA images of 30 patients which were obtained with various initial diagnosis were evaluated about deep and superficial palmar arch variations retrospectively. For the superficial palmar arch 73,3 % was Type 1, 23,3 % was Type 2, 3,3 % was Type 3; fort he deep palmar arch 93,3 % was Type 1, 6,6 % was Type 4. There weren?t any type 2 or type 3 deep palmar arch variations in our patient population.Result:3D TRICKS MRA is a practical and ideal technique to demonstrate vascular variations of the arterial anatomy of the hand.Key words:Magnetic Resonance Angiography, TRICKS, Palmar arch variations
