Abstract (EN)

As a result of technological developments, with the further use of technological devices, the countries energy demands are gradually increasing. On the other hand, because of the limited energy sources, the energy prices are increasing as well. Because the petroleum, one of the energy sources, will be used up at near future, researches on the alternative energy sources becoming more attractive. As biofuels are renewable and reduces gasses emissions, they are used as alternative to petroleum fuels increasingly. In this study, cotton oil methyl esters were added to diesel fuel by volume 5%, 20% and 50%. Blends were used in a one cylinder, direct injection, air cooled diesel engine. In experiments the effects of cotton oil methyl ester-diesel blend fuel on the engine performance and exhaust emissions were investigated at various engine speeds and different loaded engine. At the performance tests, effects of B5, B20, B50 and D2 usage on the engine power, engine torque, bsfc?s and exhaust gasses temperature were clarified. Thermal efficiency, effective efficiency, and mean effective pressure (MEP) were calculated as well. At the emission tests, the effects of blends on CO, NOx, SO2 and O2 emissions were experimented. All experiments are carried out at full loaded engine with various engine speeds and at different loaded engine with constant engine speed.
