Examination of social skills and psychological well-being of 5-6 years old children during the pandemic process

It is thought that sudden distancing of children from their current situation and their adaptation to the new situation and the limits formed due to this situation affect their psychological health during the pandemic process. It is so important that knowing which variables affect the psychological well-being and social skills of children who are in the development and growth period during the pandemic process in terms of contributing to the personal development of children. The general purpose of this research is to examine the social skills and psychological well-being of children aged 5-6 years during the COVID 19 pandemic, which also affected our country. As part of the research, measurement tools were sent to 460 mothers via Google Drive Form. The mothers who participated in the study filled in the "Personal Information Form", "SOBECE Social Skills Assessment Scale at Children" and "Psychological Well-Being Scale for 5-6 Years Old Children". A total of 433 filled psychological measurement tools were returned from the mothers. As a result of the research, it was found that there is a positive and low level significant relationship between their social skill levels and the psychological well-being levels of 5-6 years old children. The total score of the child's social skill levels; when there was a significant difference with the mother's education level, the mother's number of children and the child's gender, there was no significant difference according to the mother's marital status and the children learned from whom their first information about COVID-19. The child's total score of psychological well-being; when there was a significant difference between the mother's age and the mother's educational status, there was not a significant difference according to the marital status of the mothers, the sex of the child learned from whom their first information about COVID-19.
