Abstract (EN)
In today's world, rapidly advancing digital technologies have led to profound changes not only in communication and production processes but also in consumer behavior. One of the most significant changes has been the shift in shopping habits from physical spaces to digital platforms. With the widespread use of computers, smartphones, the internet, and mobile applications, the traditional concept of commerce has undergone a transformation, and e-commerce has become an essential component of modern life. The Covid-19 pandemic has emerged as a major catalyst accelerating this transformation. The pandemic forced individuals to stay at home due to social isolation and mobility restrictions, making the digitalization of consumption habits inevitable. Consumers began to meet most of their basic needs and shopping preferences through online platforms, and the role of e-commerce in daily life significantly increased. This process not only reshaped individual consumption habits but also led to the transformation of firms' marketing strategies, logistics infrastructures, and digital payment systems. Research findings indicate that while some sectors suffered severe economic losses during the pandemic, those that adapted to e-commerce seized financial growth opportunities. In particular, sectors such as electronics, apparel, personal care, and food experienced a notable increase in online sales, highlighting e-commerce as a strategic tool that enhances economic resilience during crises. Businesses that rapidly embraced digitalization gained a competitive advantage and achieved significant outcomes in terms of customer loyalty and long-term sustainability. This thesis evaluates the transformation of e-commerce in Turkey between 2019 and 2023 from a multidimensional perspective and offers a comprehensive analysis based on financial indicators, technological advancements, and consumer trends. The study concludes that the pandemic was not merely a temporary crisis but a strategic turning point that led to a permanent structural transformation within the e-commerce ecosystem. Keywords: E-commerce, Covid-19, coronavirus, finance.
