Abstract (EN)

In the history of the world, besides causing mass deaths, more than one epidemic disease has emerged that has shaken economic activity. The coronavirus, which is thought to be unique when compared to previous epidemics, emerged in China at the end of 2019, exceeding the country's borders, and became a pandemic in a short time. The rapid spread of cases in early 2020 has led countries to take strict quarantine measures, especially travel bans. The applied restrictions had a negative impact on the course of the global economy. The economy faced a coordinated supply and demand shock. There have been delays in production. Foreign trade has been interrupted. The global supply chain has reached its breaking point. The closure of businesses triggered unemployment. There have been losses in many sectors, especially in tourism. Country economies have contracted; As a matter of fact, it was inevitable that the economy would be dragged into a crisis. Countries have tried to combat the negative effects of the pandemic on the economy by putting into effect expansionary monetary and fiscal policies urgently against the economic crisis. The aim of this study is to determine the effects of the Covid-19 epidemic on the economy and to compare the stabilization policies of selected countries for these effects and to examine its effectiveness on macroeconomic indicators with descriptive analysis method. Keywords: Covid-19, pandemic, epidemic, monetary policy, fiscal policy, macroprudential policy
