Development of the parthograph e-learning tool and evaluation of efficiency

Objective: This study was conducted to develop the partograph e-learning tool and to evaluate its effectiveness. Material and Methods: The research was carried out as a randomized controlled experimental study at Aydın Adnan Menderes University Faculty of Health Sciences Department of Midwifery between 2019-2022. The universe of the study consisted of 3rd year students of the Department of Midwifery, Faculty of Health Sciences of Aydın Adnan Menderes University, and the sample (education: 46 and control: 47) consisted of a total of 93 midwifery students. Partograph training was applied to the education group with the developed partograph e-learning tool in addition to the formal education, while the control group continued their formal education. The data of the study were collected with the "Descriptive Information Form" and "Pre-test and Post-test Educational Achievement Test". Descriptive statistics were used in the analysis of the data, Shapiro-Wilk tests was used in the analysis of the normal distribution, Chi-square, Fisher's Exact test, Wilcoxon Signed Ranks test and Mann-Whitney U test were used in the analysis of the data, p<0.05 was accepted as statistically significant. Resullts: In the study, it was found that the education achievement post-test total score average (45.54±8.86) of the students in the education group was statistically significantly higher than the pre-test total score average (29.50±12.96) (Z=-5.767, p <0.001). Similarly, the post-test mean scores of the students in the education group from the questions of knowledge (Z=-4.690, p<0.001), skill (Z=-5.264, p<0.001) and synthesis (Z=-5.175, p<0.001) in the educational achievement test was found to be significantly higher than the mean score. In addition, it was found that the education achievement post-test total mean scores of the students in the education group (45.54±12.96) was higher than the mean score of the students in the control group (34.51±14.19), and this difference was statistically significant. Similarly, the educational achievement post-test mean scores of the students in the education group consisting of the questions of knowledge (Z=-3.044, p=0.002), skills (Z=-2.815, p=0.005) and synthesis (Z=-3.624, p<0.001) higher than the mean score of the control group post-test was significantly higher. Conclusion: It has been observed that the education given with the developed partograph e-learning tool has a positive effect on the partograph knowledge, skills and synthesis gains of the students.
