Determination of Internet Usage Situations Related to the Diseases of the Children of the Parents Treating the Child in the Pediatric Clinic Fatih DOĞAN, Hasan Kalyoncu University, Institude of Health Science, Nursing Department, Master With Thesis, Gaziantep 2018 This research, is planned as a descriptive study to determine the internet usage status of the parents of the children who are being treated for their children's diseases in pediatric clinics. Research data is gathered by Patient Introduction Form, which is developed by the researcher, and internet knowledge acquisition form by using face to face interview method, after receiving ethical committee and institution. Sample of the research includes 1017 parents -763 of whom are female and 254 of whom are male- whose children are being treated in Elazığ Fırat University Hospital Pediatry Clinic between 21 December 2016 to 10 April 2017. These parents have no communitcation problems, speak Turkish, and eager to attend this research. Evaluation of the data is conducted in electronical environment via SPSS 20.0 Software, and the relationship between percentage, average, standard deviation and non-normally distributed variable are analyzed via chi-square test. According to findings of the research, It is reported that parents involved in this research are average of 32.56 ±0847 ages old, and %57.4 of them didn't get any information about their children form anywhere, and %34.5 of them searched online for the diseases of their children. Statistically significant relationship is found between: disease type of children,and the situation of getting knowledge about child's diease,and role of electronical environment in finding information about childs disease; and between the situation of searching online about child's diease and parents educational background. Conclusively, It is found that the majority of parents who searched online for their child's disease indicated that information gathered via internet provided great assistance to them. When information is gathered from right internet sources, it is possible to gather true information about child's state of health.
