Abstract (EN)
The aim of this study was to evaluate the clinical and radiographic outcome of one visit endodontic treatment of necrotic molar teeth with periapical lesions using Ni-Ti rotary instruments. This prospective study included 55 teeth in 53 patients aged between 18-65 years. All treatment procedures performed by one operator with a standart treatment protocol. After rubber-dam isolation and access cavity preparation, all of the root canals were prepared using ProTaper Universal rotary instruments with crown-down technique using 2.5% NaOCl irrigation. Final irrigation was performed with 17% EDTA, 2.5% NaOCl, sterile saline and 2% chlorhexidine. Then, root canals were obturated with gutta-percha and resin based root canal sealer. Teeth were restorated with composite resin. The outcome measures were the postoperative pain at 24-48 hours, presence of clinical symptoms at 12 months and the change in apical bone density at 12months. In a blind evaluation, the treated teeth radiographs were examined according to the criterias that are modifications of evaluation procedures used by Strindberg and Rud et al. The result of the present study demonstrates that, the main pain level at 24 hours reduced significantly at 24 hour (p<0.0001). Patient' s age and gender on postoperative pain was not significant. Endodontic failure was observed in none of the teeth. After 12 months of observation period complete healing was detected in 76,8% of the teeth. In conclusion, posterior molar teeth with periapical lesions, which were treated by rotary instruments with adequate biomechanical procedures in one visit, showed favourable results.
