Symbol of winged sun disc in the Persian culture

In this study, "Symbol of Winged Sun Disc in Persian Culture", the winged sun disk symbol that started to be seen in Persian art from the period of Dareios I was discussed. Aforementioned symbol is also seen on Frataraka coins after the collapse of the Achaemenid Empire, but it was not used afterwards. In all this process, the symbol has been depicted on various archaeological artifacts with different iconographic features. First of all, information about the Persian religion Zoroastrianism was mentioned, since the symbol has a religious meaning. Afterwards, opinions about its origin of the symbol were given and the general properties of the symbol were evaluated. Then, the meanings attributed to the symbol were discussed under three separate topics. During this discussion, both the descriptions on archaeological materials were evaluated and also the holy book of Zoroastrianism, Avesta, was used. Finally, the symbol was examined iconographically.
