Abstract (EN)

The aim of this study was to investigate the effects of pes planus on balance and foot pressure distribution in adolescents. Sixty healthy volunteers were included in the study. After the demographic data were obtained, pedobarographic analyzes were performed with Rsscan (Rsscan-Footscan) device in the standing and walking position. Then dynamic balance was evaluated with Y Balance Test and Functional Reach Test; static balance was also evaluated with the Flamingo Balance Test. Navicular Drop Test was performed to see if there is pes planus or if there is any degree. Pes planus were determined in 14 individuals. Afterwards, individuals were divided into two groups as those with pes planus and those without pes planus. When the groups were compared in terms of balance and gait, the three-way balance was less in subjects with pes planus than in the other group according to the Y balance test (p<0,05). Flamingo balance test and functional reach test results were similar in both groups (p>0,05). When pedobarographic analyzes were examined; there were significant differences between the groups in right and left heel medial, left 1st metatarsal head contact percentage, left 5th metatarsal head maximum pressure, left 1st metatarsal head, middle foot and heel medial maximum pressure time, right heel medial load rate, left 4th and 5th metatarsal head and middle foot contact area, right middle foot contact area (p<0,05). As a result, it was observed that pes planus is a common foot deformity in adolescence and may affect dynamic balance and foot pressure distribution. In the light of our results, considering the problems that foot deformities may cause in older ages, we think that the feet of children should be evaluated during adolescence. We also foresee that dynamic balance tests will be more effective in assessing the balance of individuals with foot deformities.
