Abstract (EN)

ABSTRACTThe purpose of this study is to appraise the effects of P.lanceolata plant?s watery and methanolic extracts on the linear incision wound which has been formed at the back of rat. For this purpose, the levels of TBARs, GSH, T-SH and HP which are on the wounded tissue and also tissue trace elements (Zn+2 and Cu+2) which are on the wounded tissue and serum have been analysed. It has been found out that P.lanceolata plant reduces significantly the levels of TBARs which is one of the indicators of oxidative stress on the wounded tissue, and it causes the rise of the levels of GSH and T-SH which are from antioxidant molecules also it increases significantly collagen synthesis which is component of connective tissue on the wounded tissue. Additionally, it increases significantly the levels of tissue Zn+2 and Cu+2 which are important indicators in the process of wound healing and collagen synthesis according to control group in which no treatment is applied.According to the results of our study; it can be said that P. lanceolata plant which is used in the treatment of wounds in addition to many illnesses in traditional medicine and is rich in terms of flavanoids has a powerful antioxidant effect and so it has a positive assistance in healing process. But more advanced studies are needed to illuminate the mechanism accurately. As a conclucion it can be said that, P.lanceolata plant not only has wound healing feature but also it can be used in cosmetics additionally it has an important place in new rising medicine studies.Key Words: Wound healing, Plantago lanceolata, Glutation (GSH), Tiobarbituric acid reagents (TBARs), Total tiol grups (T-SH), Trace elements (Zn+2, Cu+2), Hidroksiprolin.
