Abstract (EN)

Aim:This study was conducted to determine the effect of online mindfulness-based nursing support (MenoMind) on vasomotor symptoms, stress and quality of life for premenopausal women. Method: This randomized controlled study was conducted at Istanbul University-Cerrahpaşa Cerrahpaşa Medical Faculty Hospital between 16.05.2022-30.06.2023. Research data were collected at the gynecology outpatient clinic. The sample of the study consisted of 90 (45-MenoMind, 45-control) premenopausal women who met the inclusion criteria and were placed by randomization. It was completed with a total of 74 participants: 37 in the MenoMind group and 37 in the control group. The data of the study were collected using "Personal Information Form, Mindful Attention Awareness Scale (MAAS), Visual Analogue Scale for Vasomotor Symptoms (VAS), Perceived Stress Scale (PSS) and Menopause-Specific Quality of Life Scale (MENQOL)". First, the pretests of the study were applied to women in the MenoMind and control groups. Afterwards, women in the MenoMind group underwent the MenoMind program for eight weeks, and women in the control group were left with routine clinical care. In the eighth week of the research, the "MenoMind Program Evaluation Form" was applied to the women in the MenoMind group to evaluate the MenoMind program. One month after the study was completed, post-tests were performed on the MenoMind and control groups. Results: Descriptive characteristics of women in the MenoMind and control groups were similar. Before the MenoMind program, it was found that the pre-test MAAS, VAS, PSS and MENQOL total score averages of women in the MenoMind and control groups were similar. While the women in the MenoMind group had a statistically significant increase in their MAAS total score, a decrease in their daytime flash level and night flash level, and their PSS and MENQOL total score averages after the MenoMind program, this difference was not found to be significant in the control group. Conclusion: The MenoMind program was found to increase the level of mindfulness and quality of life in premenopausal women and reduce stress and vasomotor symptoms. In line with this result, it is recommended to apply mindfulness-based stress reduction interventions to nursing interventions to reduce the vasomotor symptoms and stress levels of premenopausal women and to increase their quality of life.
