Abstract (EN)
This study was conducted to determine the fear of childbirth in primiparous pregnant women. It is a descriptive and cross-sectional research. The research was carried out on primiparous pregnant women who applied to the Şanlıurfa Eyyübiye Training and Research Hospital Gynecology and Obstetrics Polyclinic in Şanlıurfa. The research was conducted between October 2021 and July 2022. The data of the study were collected between October 2021 - March 2022. The sample of the study consisted of 321 primiparous pregnant women who applied to the relevant policlinic. "Personal Information Form" and "Wijma Birth Expectation/Experience Scale (W-DEQ) Version A" were used to collect the data. Arithmetic mean, standard deviation, t-test and one-way ANOVA test, Mann-Whitney U and Kruskal-Wallis test were used to evaluate the data. In the study, it was determined that approximately 75.7% of the pregnant women were under the age of 25. It has been observed that 15.9% of the pregnant women had a university education or higher, and 48.0% had a secondary school or higher education. It was determined that the birth fear levels of the pregnant women were moderate. It has been determined that the situation of overcoming labor pains and monthly income status of pregnant women affect the fear of childbirth. It has been determined that the fear of childbirth is higher in pregnant women whose income is less than their expenses and who do not know whether they can cope with labor pains. It has been suggested that all pregnant women, especially those with low income levels, should be given education to obtain sufficient information about labor.
