Abstract (EN)

The effects of strigolactone (SL), a plant growth regulator, on Triticum aestivum cv. Bereket and T. aestivum cv. Saraybosna wheat plants exposed to the herbicide prosulfocarb were investigated. SL concentration was determined as 0.5 µM, and prosulfocarb concentrations were determined as 1 µM, 5 µM, 10 µM, and 20 µM. Pigment analysis, antioxidant system lipid peroxidation, total phenolic content, relative water content, and prosulfocarb analysis were performed on samples taken on days 1, 4, and 7, and changes between groups were evaluated. SL application showed an improving effect on chlorophyll a content in the Bereket cultivar compared to Saraybosna, while chlorophyll b content improved in both plants. Carotenoid content increased in both plants. SL application had an improving effect on the total chlorophyll content of the Bereket plant. Peroxidase and ascorbate peroxidase activities increased in the groups treated with SL-Prosulfocarb. Superoxide dismutase activity decreased in the SL-Prosulfocarb-treated groups on day 7 in the Bereket plant, while catalase activity generally decreased in both plants in the SL-Prosulfocarb-treated groups on day 7. Malondialdehyde content decreased in both plants on day 7. Total phenolic content increased in both plants, indicating a positive effect of SL. Relative water content decreased in both plants with increasing number of days. It was determined that SL reduced the prosulfocarb content in both plants. Our findings show that SL can be significantly effective in defending against oxidative stress in T. aestivum exposed to prosulfocarb stress.
