Abstract (EN)

In the study, it was aimed to investigate the antioxidant effect of curcuminin against oxytetracycline in scaly carp. For this purpose, fish were placed in 4 different fiberglass tanks. Curcumin (10, 20 and 40 mg / kg feed) were orally administered to fish for 60 days. At the end of this period, oxytetracycline at dose of 75 mg/kg fish was applied by bathing for 48 hours. Immunological parameters (total protein and total immunoglobulin levels) and oxidant/antioksidan parameters (malondyaldehyde level, catalase and glutathione-S-transferase activity and reduced glutathione level) in blood and tissue samples taken from fish before and after administration of oxytetracycline were analysed. Live weight gain, relative growth and specific growth rate were used for determining growth rate of fish. There was no statistically significant difference the live weight gain, relative growth and specific growth rates of the control and curcumin treated groups. When compared to the control group, the total protein and total immunoglobulin levels of the curcumin treated groups were significantly increased. At the end of the experiment, the total protein and total immunoglobulin levels in the oxytetracycline treated groups were statistically decreased when compared to the values before oxytetracycline administration. When compared to the control group, the tissue MDA levels of the curcumin treated groups were significantly decreased. At the end of the experiment, the tissue MDA levels in the oxytetracycline treated groups were statistically increased when compared to the values before oxytetracycline administration. When compared to the control group, the tissue catalase and glutathione-S-transferase activities and reduced glutathione levels of the curcumin treated groups were significantly increased. At the end of the experiment, the tissue catalase and glutathione-S-transferase activities and reduced glutathione levels in the oxytetracycline treated groups were statistically decreased when compared to the values before oxytetracycline administration.
