Narrations taken as reference by radical movements (DAESH example)

This study aims to reveal the approach of the jidahist Salafism, which has emerged in modern times and is deemed as a radical movement, through the example of DAESH. The thesis is based on the claim that DAESH is fed by jihadist Salafism; that ideological belief is effective in its approach to hadith narrations; the ideology is formed around the concepts of tawhid, jihad, and martyrdom, and the narrations were instrumentalized in this direction; and thus, that there is no method or methodology. Chapter One firstly deals with and evaluates radicalism's and related concepts' universe of meaning as well as their response in Muslim societies; evaluations and analyzes regarding Muslim radicalism/fundamentalism; and discussions around the concepts. Secondly, the Chapter explains the emergence or jihadist Salafism and the process leading to DAESH by taking into account the historical milestones; and draws attention to its history, current situation, future, communication and media strategy as well as its references. In Chapter Two, firstly, the approach of DAESH to hadith narrations are analyzed and evaluated in terms of methodology, and are exemplified. Secondly, the narrations DAESH uses in the fields of faith, worship, and social life are determined and evaluated. In Chapter Three, the hadith narrations highlighted by DAESH on administration, jihad, fitan, and malahim are determined and evaluated. Chapter Four reveals how DAESH understood and interpreted the A'maq/Dabiq narration, which it uses as a heading in many places, and the narration in question has been analyzed and evaluated in terms of hadith sciences. Conclusions, determinations, suggestions and criticisms have been expressed in the Conclusion.
