The problem of lafẓ-maʿnā based interpretation in thecontext of al-Rāghib al-İṣfahānī: A case study of Muqaddimatal-Tafsīr

Rāgıb, who is mostly known for his work named al-Mufradāt, is a name that has proven its originality in the field of language in general, and especially in Qur'anic lexicology. In addition to his Mufradāt, there is also a tafsir work called Mukaddimat al-Tafsir, which is mostly known to researchers who are interested in tafsir. This study discusses and analyzes the content of Mukaddimat al-Tafsir, which include issues related to lafz al-mushtarak, umum-khusus, haqiqah-majaz, tafsir-tawil in connection with the accumulation of related fields such as logic, rhetoric (al-Balagha), methodology of fiqh (usul al-fiqh) and tafsir. Accordingly, the content of the Muqaddimah, its position and representation in the history of Islamic sciences, the author's stance on the relevant issues, how he differed from other authors and the result of his differentiation and other issues (if any) were analyzed with an analytical perspective. In line with this aim, this study has been conducted in a way that it consists three parts and a conclusion, so that each chapter presents relevant information for a better understanding of the content of the work in question.
