Abstract (EN)

ABSTRACT Aim: Numerous analyzes and clinical studies have been conducted to find new methods for improving wound healing processes. Various plant extracts have been studied for years to improve and improve the wound healing repair process. The effect of Plantago lanceolata on wound healing has not been fully investigated to date. In this study, which we planned, we aimed to compare the effects of Triticum vulgare cream, whose effect on wound healing has been proven, and Plantago lanceolata extracts, which are still under investigation, on wound healing. Material/Method: A total of 24 rats were used in our study and they were divided into groups with 8 rats in each. Groups; The control group was divided into 3 different groups as the group treated with Triticum vulgare cream and the group treated with Plantago lanceolata aqueous extract. After the rats were anesthetized with 90mg/kg Ketamine and 10mg/kg Xsilazine intraperitoneally (i.p.), full-thickness skin wounds were created from the skin area, measuring 2x2 cm, including the dermis and epidermis. After wounds were created, wound surface measurements were made on the 7th, 14th and 21st days of all rats, and specimens were taken for histopathological examinations. Results: The density of collagen fibrils was determined in specimens stained with Van Gieson stain. As a result of the evaluations made; The extent of collagen fibrils was observed equally between Plantago lanceolata and Triticum vulgare on day 21. Conclusion: We observed that the aqueous extracts of Plantago Lanceolata, which we compared with limited parameters, had positive results on wound healing.
