Effects on feed value and quality of barley silage of recombinant inoculant contribution

Abstract (EN)
In this study, six different barley silage treatment groups were prepared as control, Sill-All (Alltech, UK), LC1363, LCLDH, LBPL (Lactobacillus plantarum) and inoculant additive LBPL+Lik. LC1363 (Lactococcus laktis subsp. cremoris), LCLDH (LDH mutant Lactococcus laktis subsp. cremoris) and LBPL+Lik (Lactobacillus plantarum) groups contained recombinant inoculants with ? (1.3-1.4) glucanase (likenaz) enzyme gene. Inoculants were added to silages at the level of 1.5x107 cfu/g. Analysed for, pH, dry matter, crude protein, crude fat, crude ash, crude fiber, NDF and ADF levels were determined at the end of 7, 14, 28 and 56-day period. In addition, organic acids, WSC, NH3-N, Fleig points, in vitro gas production volumes, gas production parameters, metabolizable energy content, organic matter digestibility and ME, NEL levels and aerobic stability of silages for 56 days barley silage group were also determined. Significant (P<0.05) differences were observed among 7, 14, 28 and 56 days silage groups for pH, crude protein, crude ash and ADF values, among 14, 28 and 56 days silage groups for NDF and crude fiber, and between 28 and 56 days silage for dry matter content. In terms of silo lactic acid and propionic acid levels significant (P<0.05) difference was observed between the groups in 56 days silage. Acetic acid levels were not significantly (P>0.05) different between the groups. Butyric acid was not detected in silage groups. In 56 days silage, the differences between the groups were significant for WSC while the groups were not significantly different in terms of NH3-N levels. Differences among silage groups were significantly different in terms of gas production volumes at 96 hours. For the ME, NEL levels and OMS, the differences among the groups were found to be significant. In this study, using LBPL and LBPL+Lik inoculants as additives to silage was improved the levels of ME, NEL and OMS in barley silages. According to the results of the aerobic stability, silages tended to deteriorate in the time period of the temperature values of 25±2 ºC. Accordingly, the best group was identified as the LBPL+Lik group due to the reason in this group that the aerobic stability began to deteriorate after 92 hours. In conclusion the result obtained in the study showed that recombinant inoculant, inclusion especially to the barley silage improve feeding value and aerobic stability under our experimental condition.
