Abstract (EN)
The most common endocrine malfunction in women of reproductive age is polycystic ovarian syndrome (PCOS). In this study we conducted in order to measure the levels of androgen hormone, some hormones and biochemical parameters in Iraqi PCOS patients. The study was divided into two groups, the first group (patients) 50 suffering from PCOS and the second group (control) 50, who visit the hormonal and biochemical center, Fallujah general hospital, Anbar-Iraq. When compared to the control group, patients group with PCOS had substantially higher mean serum Androgen (P=0.0001) and luteinizing hormone (LH) (P=0.019). The patients group had considerably higher mean serum free testosterone, insulin resistance (IR) concentrations and follicle stimulating hormone (FSH) levels but the levels did not differ substantially between the two groups (P>0.05). There were no statistically significant differences in our study with respect to age (P=609). As for androgen and LH hormone, its levels increased are in PCOS patients, which indicate that hormonal have an important role, while the other parameters were less effective.
