Sabūnī's approach to the reasons for the revelation in Safwat al-Tafāsīr (specific to faith, worship, ethics)

Muhammad Ali al-Sābūnī's approach to the causes of revelation in Safwat al-Tafāsīr provides an important methodological perspective for the correct understanding of the Qur'an, especially in the context of faith, worship and ethics. This information serves as a key to grasping the wisdom and goals of the verses. This study aims to reveal what kind of methodology al-Sābūnī followed in interpreting the reasons for the revelation of the Qur'ānic verses and how this is reflected in the triad of faith-worship-ethics. The aim is to systematically analyze the impact of the verses on practical life. In this study, the explanations related to the reasons of revelation in Safwat al-Tafāsīr are analyzed by limiting the verses related to the beliefs, details of worship and moral commands. The study employs descriptive analysis and thematic interpretation. In addition, al-Sābūnī's information from other classical tafsīrs is cited and the originalities in his approach to the causes of nuzūl are identified. As a result, al-Sābūnī does not neglect to emphasize the universal message of the verses while narrating the reasons for their revelation. His method is to emphasize the contemporary reflections of faith, worship and ethical principles while taking into account the historical context of the Qur'an. This increases both the academic and social contribution of his tafsir.
