Social determinants of health: A Qualitative study on Samsun province

The idea that inequality prevails wherever there are people has become a phenomenon known to everyone. The inequality in service areas, such as health, education and economy, which provides significant opportunities in the development process of people, has definitely been a subject that needs to be addressed. Because inequalities drag individuals to worse health risks. In this sense, it is essential to address the social determinants of health. Talking about the social determinants of health has an important place in addressing the differences between individuals and revealing how these differences affect health. The ultimate goal in examining the social determinants of health is to ensure that all individuals in society achieve the highest level of well-being. In fact, the purpose of the emergence of the social determinants of health; It is to ensure that the existing living conditions are moved to a more livable level with a higher quality, together with the reflection of the inequality between individuals in terms of sociodemographic, socioeconomic and sociocultural characteristics on health. At this point, the aim of the study is to address issues that are essential for individual life, such as the health, perception of illness, accessibility to health services and the quality level of the service received, the quality of the individual's relationship with the physician and the hospital, and the reflection of the covid 19 pandemic on health, within the framework of the social determinants of health. 33 participants with different sociodemographic characteristics contributed to the sample of the study in Samsun. In this study, in which qualitative research method was applied, semi-structured interview technique was used as a qualitative data collection tool.
