A study on health care team services and the roles of the nurses in health care system

In our rapidly changing and evolving era, the concept of health is also changed and people have been deserving a better quality of health services. With the emphasis on the importance of holistic care today, it is impossible for a single discipline to meet the health care needs of healthy individuals or patients and their families. According to this the team work within the health service delivery has come to the fore. The aim of the study is to introduce healthcare team services and the roles of the nurses in line e with members? information and propose solutions.Research is taken with 436 health care team members who are working in İstanbul province-wide private and public hospitals which are connected to the ministry of health. Data is collected by the use of a questionnaire which is prepared three-stage and consists the evaluation of demographical characteristics, roles and tasks of nurses and Professional competence of health care team members. Also a section that includes issues and solution proposals, is available. The data is statistically evaluated by the use of SPSS programme. Statistically Chi-Square, simple cross-tables and Kruskal-Wallis Test are utilized.According to the results of the research, the dominant view is that, to provide a good health care service presentation efficient team work is required however the non-limitation of the roles and tasks of the members causes conflicts within the team. Health care team members share the common view that team leader may change in order to provide efficient health care service however doctors defend the view which proposes that team leader should always be the doctors. Doctor thinks himself superior in terms of many talents on the other hand nurses think themself superior. In addition to this, according to education, professional certification and high human relations the respectability of nurses in teams increases however the task locations of nurses can be easily changed by surgeon general. This leads reluctance and motivation loss in nurses. Although the nurses, who work in field, are aware of the role and responsibility that an understanding of contemporary nursing brought, they can?t fulfill their original function because they are obliged to deal with non-commissioned duties.To overcome these adversities, exact determination of the roles and the functions of healthcare team members? and, ensuring team members.
