Work stress and alienation in health workers case of a research and training hospital

As one of the most important today problems, the effects of stress on working life should be more elaborated. New jobs and job definitions arising from increasing population and competitive business structure in a globalizing world bring forward the study of the work stress and related alienation. In this study, the survey method and literature review are followed. By this survey, the relationships between sociodemographic variables, and alienation and level of stress among participating health workers is researched, and results are evaluated. Survey data is analyzed with SPSS program. It is shown that there are significant relations between sociodemographic variables and work stress and alienation. Night-workers and those who did not choose their job voluntarily suffer from both work stress and alienation. These results indicate that encouragement of voluntary choice of health profession and convenient working conditions would help prevent work stress and alienation.
