Abstract (EN)

Communication is very important in health care delivery as it is in some other institutions. Just because the matter is human health, getting information about their own or relatives' health is one of the basic human rights. However, sometimes problems which stem from miscommunication or lack of communication of both the health personnel and patients and their relatives may come up. When these problems, whether they stem from the patient or her/his relatives or from the health personnel, are not solved, they may cause further problems (violence, fight etc.) In a healthy communication the contentment and the motivation of the health personnel is significant but because of their health problems the despondency and the stress level of the patients is known to be high and this situation causes some troubles such as communication barriers arising from the decline of empathy, misunderstanding or even not understanding each other at all. The aim of this study is to state the causes of the communication problems in health institutions, and to give suggestions about the methods which are more convenient to overcome these problems. To determine the causes of the problems and communication barriers Gazi Yaşargil Training and Research Hospital is sampled and a questionnaire is conducted with the health personnel of the hospital. The analysis of the questionnaire is carried out by using SPSS 17.0 and the conclusions are explained in tables.
