A research on information security awareness of health personnel candidates: The case of Gümüşhane University

The aim of this study is to reveal the information security awareness of health personnel candidates. The research is a descriptive method screening study from quantitative research methods. In the literature review part of the study, the "Information Security Awareness" scales were examined. Güldüren's (2015) "Information Security Awareness Scale" was used as a data collection tool. The Cronbach alpha reliability coefficient of the scale developed by Güldüren was calculated as ,97. Within the framework of the study, the repeated reliability coefficient was calculated as ,97. The scale consists of thirty-four questions and three sub-dimensions: protection of personal data, attacks and threats, and privacy. Data collection was carried out with 357 health personnel candidates. Candidates answered the scale questions with various information such as gender, age range, grade level, time spent on the internet. At the end of the study, it was seen that the health personnel candidates had a moderate level of information security awareness according to the average score they got from the scale. It has been observed that there is a similar level of information security awareness among our participants, male and female candidates, candidates from all age groups, and candidates from all grade levels. At the same time, it has been revealed that there is no relationship between the time spent on the Internet and the level of information security awareness.
