Said Havvâ's handling of jihad verses in his work al-Esâs fi't-Tafsir

This study, which deals with the Syrian scholar Said Havvâ, one of the 20th century commentators, and his work called al-Esâs fit't-Tafsir, focuses on the period in which the commentator lived, his life, his struggle, commentary method, focuses on the way it deals with jihad verses. The aim of the study is to declare his tafsir that he wrote in order to shed light on Muslims with the effect of the changing social, political and intellectual understanding in the 19th and 20th centuries, and how his own method explains the jihad verses in the it is to reveal how the Qur'an deals with the jihad verses in the Quran on the axis of the jihad verses in the chapter of al-Baqara,through the theory of the unity of the Qur'an. First of all, in the method which used in the research, a literature review has been scanned. Based on Said Havâ's works, especially her opinions, interpretations and ijtihadi judgments about jihad were compiled and their classification, analysis and evaluation were presented. In the study, it has been seen that Said Havâ's work, which he wrote by blending the traditional and contemporary commentary understanding, has a unique exegesis method, he wrote his tafsir and other works for the solution of the political and social problems in his time, and he handled the jihad verses in this way in his commentary. In addition, it has been tried to reveal that she evaluated the verses of jihad on the verses in the chapter of Surah Al-Baqara, which she saw as the essence of the Qur'an.
