The analysis of word groups in Sait Faik Abasıyanık?s ?Alemdağ?da Var Bir Yılan? and contribution to the Turkish teaching

This work contains an analysis and classification of the word groups that are found in the stories, Öyle Bir Hikâye, Yalnızlığın Yarattığı İnsan, Alemdağında Var Bir Yılan, Panco'nun Rüyası, Melâhat Heykeli, Yani Usta, İki Kişiye Bir Hikaye, Rıza Milyon-er, Sarmaşıklı Ev, Eftalikusun Kahvesi, Hişt Hişt!, Dülger Balığının Ölümü, Kafa ve Şişe, Çarşıya İnemem, Dolapdere, Bir Hastalık,Yılan Uykusu in Alemdağ?da Var Bir Yılan by Sait Faik Abasıyanık.In this analysis, first, one of the word groups which is in the position of any component of the sentence has been defined. And later, sub-word groups that has taken place in these defined word groups has been found and given in related title.Noun phrases, adjective phrases, repetitions, recurrences, verbals, prepositional phrases, reputation phrases are the words that are treated in this work.Noun phrases are treated in three categories: possessive construction, indeterminate genitival construction, continious construction.Adjective phrases are handled as those used with numeral adjectives, question adjectives, demonstrative adjectives, descriptive adjectives and which are constructed by verbals. Numeral adjectives are given under these sub- headings: cardinal number adjectives, order number adjectives and distribute number adjectives: adjective phrases which are constructed by verbals, adjective phrases which are constructed by participles and adjective phrases which are constructed by other verbals.Under the topic of repetitions, synonym words with similar meanings, word groups made with opposite meanings and affirmative-negative words; under the topic of recurrences, word groups made with repetition of the same words, made with reflections and made with -m has taken place. In this analysis repetitions and recurrences are used as basic topic, there are no other minor topics used.Verbals are examined as follows: verbal nouns, adjectival verbs and adverbal phrases.Prepositional phrases and reputation phrases are examined at the conclusion section of the thesis.While determining and classifying word groups in each sub-headings are numbered according to the order of the stories and page numbers.At the end of the sentences that word groups are in it, indicated that the word groups belong to which story, what page and line.Each word groups are demonstrated in bold.The unity of the sentence that the word group in it is completely maintained.The thesis is prepared based on the first edition by Varlık publishing March,1954. First edition of this book has been published as ?Alemdağında Var Bir Yılan?. And later second edition has been published of writer's own accord as ?Alemdağda Var Bir Yılan? by the same publishing. In other editions, the name of ?Alemdağ'da Var Bir Yılan? has been used.The text of the stories based on the first edition used in this analysis has taken place after the conclusion part.
