Poverty in the stories of Sait Faik Abasıyanık

Sait Faik, one of the cornerstones of Turkish Literature, does not isolate himself from people despite being a member of a wealthy family. "Human" is at the center of Sait Faik's works. He shares their thoughts and concerns. The voice of those whose voice is not heard in the society becomes a reminder of the forgotten. One of the problems in the world is the poor, who have withdrawn from the past and are struggling for their lives. In general terms, poverty is the state of not having sufficient income. For this reason, Sait Faik makes the existing problems visible by sharing the troubles of people who are deprived of many things with his stories. While the life, art and works of Sait Faik Abasıyanık are discussed in the content of the thesis, the events that were turning points in his life and why he took a break from writing are also mentioned. Conceptually, poverty, its types and causes are examined. The dimensions of poverty are discussed in Sait Faik Abasıyanık's stories. The aim of the thesis is to tell the people living in economic poverty in the stories of Sait Faik Abasıyanık. In this study, the appearance of the poor in the society in Sait Faik Abasıyanık's stories, the worker-boss relationship of the capitalist societies that emerged after the Industrial Revolution, the causes of poverty and the poor in the places are examined.
