Abstract (EN)

The current study aims to examine the effect of Salutogenic-Based Sense of Coherence Psychoeducation Programme on adolescents' sense of coherence, posttraumatic growth, psychological resilience and psychological well-being. A quasi-experimental design was used for 2x3 mixed (split plot) measurements including control and experimental groups, pretest, posttest and follow-up. In this study, a pilot study was conducted and the programme was revised and finalised. Salutogenic-based Sense of Coherence Psychoeducation Programme was conducted in 7 sessions and 50 minutes. The participants were measured with pretest before the psycho-education programme, posttest after the application and follow-up test after 1 month. In addition, a focus group interview was conducted to reveal the views of the adolescents in the experimental group. In this study, "Sense of Coherence Scale for Adolescents", "Posttraumatic Growth Inventory for Adolescents-Short Form", "Brief Psychological Resilience Scale", "Psychological Well-Being Scale" and "Focus Group Interview Form" were used. Considering the objectives of the current study, mixed (split-plot) ANOVA analysis was used to analyse the quantitative data. In this analysis, Wilks Lambda statistic test was used to determine the significant difference between the groups based on the measurements. In this regard, Bonferroni test was performed to determine between which groups there was significant difference. In addition, in the analyses conducted, the effect size was determined by calculating the eta square (η2). In addition, a semi-structured interview form prepared by the researcher was used for the focus group interview and the qualitative data obtained were examined by content analysis. In the current study, the experimental group participating in the Salutogenic-Based Sense of Coherence Psychoeducation Programme had a significant increase in the sense of coherence, comprehensibility and manageability within the sub-dimensions of sense of coherence, posttraumatic growth, psychological resilience and psychological well-being scores compared to the control group. In addition, this significant increase continued in the follow-up measurement. On the other hand, there was a significant increase in the meaningfulness score of the sense of coherence sub-dimensions compared to the control group. However, this significant increase did not continue in the follow-up measurement. The qualitative findings of the research explored the themes of personal power, positive changes, ways of coping, meaning of life, common experience of humanity, self- kindness, sources of resilience and well-being regarding the contribution of the programme. Moreover, regarding the use of the programme outcomes in daily life, the themes of using sources of resistance, discovering the meaning of life, evaluating thoughts, using to reduce pessimism, using ways of coping, reinforcing positive changes, and reinforcing strengths were revealed. In addition, the participants' views on increasing the number of sessions and the activity of the source of resistance to increase the effectiveness of the programme were revealed. In conclusion, the present study showed that the Salutogenic-Based Sense of Coherence Psychoeducation Programme was effective on adolescents' sense of coherence, posttraumatic growth, psychological resilience and psychological well-being with both quantitative and qualitative findings.
