Abstract (EN)

Carvacrol (28.34), p-cymene (21.27), thymol (17.33) in the essential oil of Satureja cuneifolia (SC) and piperitoneoxide (27.25), isomenthone (18.57), (4aR,7S,7aS)-nepetalactone (16.44) in the essential oil of Calamintha nepeta subsp. nepeta (CN) were determined as major compounds (%). The amount of total phenolic components (GAE/g) was determined as 3.01 for SC and 0.27 for CN. IC50 values of SC and CN essential oils by DPPH and ABTS methods were determined as 0.28-0.66 g/ml and 278.85-8.62 g/ml and FRAP antioxidant activities were determined as 171.34 and 0.62 µmol from trolox equivalent (TE/g), respectively. As a result of the thermal treatment analysis, the initial temperatures of transition to glassyness of SC and CN essential oils were determined as -94.43 oC and -98.45 oC and the peak 3 enthalpy values were found as 58.72 and 75.01 kJ/kg respectively. It has been determined that SC and CN essential oils are cytotoxic and apoptotic on A549 lung cancer cells. However, it can be said that CN essential oil is more effective than SC essential oil on A549 lung cancer cells.
