Abstract (EN)

Advisor: Prof. Dr. Sadettin SARI The aim of this study is to reveal the ways in which the warrior woman archetype is transformed into a narrative form in visual arts within the framework of the concepts of myth and archetype, and to identify the contexts that form the basis of this narrative form. The problem of the study is defined as "the transformation of the warrior woman archetype in visual arts and its effects on the researcher's works." In the first section of the study, the concept of myth is examined in relation to mythical formations in different periods, due to its inclusion of images from the collective unconscious and its intense reflection of archetypes. The concept of archetype is also examined in the context of myth, within the framework of Carl Gustav Jung's analytical theory and other theories that are thought to contribute to the study. In the second part, where the transformation of concepts in the intellectual and formal fields is evaluated through works, works determined by purposeful sampling, which contain characters thought to reflect the warrior woman archetype and provide data that will support the research, are included. The final section of the study includes the researcher's efforts to interpret the artistic productions and their intellectual and formal structures. The study examines the transformation of the warrior woman archetype, and since it concerns artistic production, it reflects subjective interpretations. The series entitled "Timeless Words Archetypal Women," which includes works created by the researcher during the research process, was initiated based on the intersection between the researcher's personal transformation and social transformation. In the production process, it has become an expression of confronting the deep structure beneath the visible, formed by the connection between the unconscious and the collective unconscious. In this context, it can be noted that the reflection of mythology and archetypal phenomena in the produced works establishes a connection with identity formation and belonging, while also creating new openings in the researcher's intellectual and artistic expression. Additionally, it is thought that this research may offer a different interpretation in revealing the relationship between art and psychology.
