Abstract (EN)

In the first part of the study, the chemistry of the glass material that is the subject of the research, its usage areas and its types, coloring and color types were investigated, and the definitions were compiled. While making this categorization, commonly used glass types were selected, and sections were created considering their compatibility with hot glass free forming techniques. In addition, in this section, the process that started with the first finds in history has been followed up to the present and tabulated; The technical and physical explanations of the glasses in history are revealed and the process that leads to the chemically conscious and controlled production of transparent glass and colored glass is examined. In the second part of the research, the types of colored forms produced in hot glass, the chemical components of these glasses and their differences according to their areas of use are discussed under the headings. How colored glasses are produced, ready-to- use colored glass types, and the stages in which these colored glasses are made ready for use before technical applications are exemplified. In the same section, also in sub- headings; The formation, application and secondary processes of coloring methods are discussed. In addition to this, the possibilities of design that can be applied by using tinting methods in hot glass are mentioned by giving place to the techniques integrated with their names throughout the world, as well as experimental applications. The technical applications of these methods are explained in detail and the process that will give one-to-one results during the application is conveyed. By choosing international artists who use the intrinsic and superficial coloring methods in their works with a unique expression; biographies, works and texts of works are included. The only common features of the artists selected in this section are that they produce their works with hot glass free-forming techniques and their perspectives on superficial coloring methods, which they capture a different language during their production. Each artist has been chosen by paying attention to the fact that their perception of form and color is different from each other. Within the department, original research was conducted among the artists, entirely on their works and careers, without making any comparisons. The characteristic features of glass distinguish it from other materials and distinguish it as an artistic expression tool thanks to its inimitable aspects. Material in the third part; volume, light and form are discussed under the headings and how these features affect visual perception is examined. In this section, which is also fed by academic quotations, the contribution of the material to the language of expression has been researched both under its own headings and by comparing them with each other. Addressing the surface coloring methods and the characteristic features of glass, displaying the hot glass forming methods by combining them with different materials, and the search for an original work constitute another basis of the third part of the study. In this section, which includes personal practices carried out within the scope of the thesis, the text of the work is handled as two separate sub-titles. In the first title, "Load", in the second title, "Migration", which has become a phenomenon problem of recent years, is discussed. These two issues were examined by me after the necessary sociological and academic studies were made and by making studies on determination; The intellectually created forms turned into three-dimensional sculptures. The expression was tried to be strengthened not only with superficial coloring methods, but also with different techniques such as mass shaping, ceramic figures, in-mold glass shaping methods. In the conclusion part, which is the final part of the research; In the light of all the subjects included in this research; Topics such as glass types belonging to hot glass free forming methods and technical and chemical production of colored glasses, categorization by defining coloring methods, precise definitions of body and surface coloring methods, and examination of the factors affecting visual perception of color in glass are discussed. Within these sections, it is aimed to define the coloring methods by making positive comparisons with each other and to make them a source that will make important contributions to the formation of academic literature. A separate study is required to create the full Turkish equivalents of these accepted technical names in international terminology.
