Abstract (EN)

Sleep disorders are nonmotor symptoms frequently seen in Parkinson's patients, and in order to reduce sleep problems, the patient's sleep habits and sleep problems must be correctly assessed. Our research purpose is; to assess sleep qualities of Parkinson's patients, to test the validity and reliability of the Turkish version of the "SCOPA Sleep Scale" developed by Marinus et al. and to prove its usability in Turkish society. Between May-December 2017, Patient Information Form, Pittsburgh Sleep Quality Index, Epworth Sleepiness Scale and SCOPA Sleep Scale were administered by face to face interviews to 105 Idiopathic Parkinson's patients who admitted to Tekirdağ Namık Kemal University Health Practice and Research Hospital Neurology Outpatient Clinic. For test retest reliability, 15 days after the first application, patients were administered SCOPA Sleep Scale for the second time. Percentage distribution, mean, factor analysis, Pearson correlation test and cronbach α reliability coefficient analysis were used in the evaluation of the data. The average age of the participants was 71,08 ± 1,01 years, 53,3% were male, 49,5% were literate, 59% were married and 95,2% were not working. As a result of the factor analysis, it was determined that the scale had two factors and the item total score correlations varied between 0,73 and 0,87. In the analysis of internal consistency, cronbach alpha reliability coefficient was found as 0,907 for night sleep subscale and 0,906 for daytime sleepiness subscale. İn test-retest analysis, there were no significant differences between both evaluations. As a result, the psychometric properties of the Turkish version of the SCOPA Sleep Scale were at a good level and acceptable, and the scale could be used in Turkish society. Key words: Parkinson disease, Sleep, Scales, Validity, Reliability
