On the work "İlim cana Din" translated from Russian into Kyrgyz by Sıdık Karac Uulu (Text-translation-indexes)

The work that forms the basis of this study is a translation titled İlim cana Din (Science and Religion), which is Sıdık Karac Uulu's Kyrgyz translation of İ. Mişin's Russian work Nauka i Religiya. Within the scope of the study, the Arabic alphabet adapted to the phonological structure of the Kyrgyz language and used during the period in which the translation was produced was examined; the work, originally written in Arabic script, was first transcribed into the Latin alphabet with transcription marks and subsequently translated into Turkish (Turkey Turkish). During the translation process, the Kyrgyz words in the text were adhered to as closely as possible, although in certain cases the free translation technique was employed. In addition, a grammatical index was created by separating the roots or stems of the words from their affixes and providing the meanings of the words as used in the text, while the affixes were indexed in alphabetical order, making it possible to analyze the grammatical features of the work in detail. The sources consulted in the study are presented in the bibliography section, and a facsimile of the work is included as an appendix. Overall, the study sheds light on the formative years of the Kyrgyz language and literature and serves as an example for the examination of Kyrgyz works written in the Arabic script.
