Semiz-z?de Süleyman Rüşdî Efendi and his diwan

In general terms, Semiz-z?de Rüşdî Süleyman is one of the 19th century diwan poets. Rüşdî, who is the member of the Uşş?kî sect, got his first education in a local primary school. After that, he started to get his education from Muhammed Zühdî ,an Uşş?kî sheikh ,and reached his maturity near his teacher. According to our guesses ,Rüşdî ,that we have serious academic researches ,born in M. 1768 (H. 1181) and passed away in M. 1855 (H. 1272) . There is a diwan work of Rüşdî ,who had a deep interest in art since he had started his education life. There are 506 poets in his diwan which contains 4000 couplets. The ?Silsile-i Tarîk-i Uşş?kî?, that presents all the patriarches of the Uşş?kî Sect , contains this diwan work named ?Menafi?ün-n?s? that is about medicine and is written by Nidaî Ankaravî. Therefore, in this study we will try to work on the Diwan of Rüşdî.In the first section of our study, it is given general information about Semiz-z?de Süleyman Rüşdî `s life, his literary identity, and about his works. In the second section of the study ,however, it is examined the feature of the structure of his diwan. In this section, his 506 poetries are identified with respect to their shapes, structures, type, prosodies , and rhymes. And these data are made much more tangible with the help of our graphs. By this way, it is tried to find out about the place of the poet ,in Turkish Classic Literature. In the third section ,the Diwan is transformed from Ottoman Turkish to today`s Turkish language by using transcription letters ,so that it is aimed a better understanding of the readers about the original text.Key Words: Turkish Classic Literature, the Diwan of Rüşdî, Semiz-z?de Süleyman Rüşdî ,19th century
