Abstract (EN)
In order to use the natural resources in our country efficiently, effectively and for a longer time, it is becoming more important to research and find alternative materials. As in every field, the use of waste materials in bituminous hot mixes (HMA) is increasing day by day. In this study, the usability of waste serpentine dust wastes as fillers in HMA was investigated. In the study, the usability of serpentine as filler in asphalt concrete pavements was investigated. For this purpose, Marshall briquettes were prepared with bitumen ratios of 3.5-4.0-4.5-5.0-5.5-6.0% by using limestone aggregate and crushed stone dust filler. By applying Marshall stability and yield test procedure to these prepared samples, stability, flow, practical specific gravity (Dp), void percentage (Vh), asphalt filled density percentage (Vfa), inter-aggregate void percentage (VMA) values were found. Optimum amount of bitumen was determined by drawing related graphs from the limestone sample results. Based on the optimum amount of bitumen determined and using the same gradation, limestone filler and serpentine filler material were replaced at the rate of 0-25-50-75-100%, and serpentine substituted asphalt concrete samples were produced. The stability, flow, Dp, Vh, Vfa, VMA values of the serpentine filler substituted briquettes were determined and the test results were evaluated.
