Abstract (EN)
Objective: To investigate the role of Laminin-5y2 and P16(INK4a) in the developmental process of cervical neoplasia and the relation with survival. Methods:This retrospective study conducted in Ege University Hospital Department of Obstetrics and Gynecology Division of Gynecological Oncology between January 2004 and January 2014. 140 patients with cervical pathology and 10 patients who had total hysterectomy due to benign gynecological conditions were included in this study. Patients of study population were divided in 5 groups as follows; CIN-1(30), CIN-3(30), Microinvasive carcinoma(20), adenocarcinoma(30) and squamous cell carcinoma(30).Control group patients (10) were selected from patients who had hysterectomy due to leiomyoma. All patients were reached by telephone call and informed about the study.Patients cervical pathology specimens were evaluated for immunohystological stain of Laminin-5y2 and P16(INK4a). Results: Age, BMI, parity, smoking, laminin-5y2 and p16(INK4a) staining levels and relation with survival were evalueted parameters. In groups of adenocarcinoma, squamous cell carcinoma and microinvasive carcinoma laminin-5y2 and p16(INK4a) staining levels were significantly increased parallel to age and BMI.In all groups of study patients laminin-5y2 and p16(INK4a) staining levels were significantly correlated with the increase of age and BMI.However, teher was not any correlation with smoking or parity. Conclusion:Laminin-5y2 and P16(INK4a) molecules expressions are significanly increased in the process of cervical neoplasia. However, more researches with higher numbers of patients are needed to evaluate the true pathophysiological role of this molecules in the cervical carcinogenesis.
