Abstract (EN)

Şevket Bulut is a Republican Period storyteller who deals with local and traditional themes in Turkish storytelling. The setting of the stories takes place in a limited region. He writes about different human and the living conditions of the people living in Kilis and Maraş regions in a realistic and observational style. In this study, Şevket Bulut's stories are analyzed thematically from a text-based perspective. In this framework, Bulut's stories are analyzed in terms of tradition, social values and religious beliefs. In the first part of the thesis, the general framework of the story genre is drawn. In the second part, the author's life story, storytelling and his works are introduced. In the third part of the study, the stories are analyzed in the context of traditionalism and locality. In the fourth part, the social structure, the degeneration of social values and human relations in the region in question are presented. In the last part, the religious beliefs and rituals of the individuals living in the places where the stories take place are tried to be revealed. Bulut, who knows the geography he lives in very well, has conveyed the religious and social problems of the people in his stories. Since the plots of the stories were limited to the geography in which he lived, he was considered a local storyteller.
