Abstract (EN)

In this study, we evaluated the possible drug interactions in mice treated with ivermectin and moxidectin prior to sevoflurane anesthesia. In the study, alterations in parameters of the open field test, sleep duration and motor activity were examined. In our study, a total of 11 groups were formed including 6 female Swiss albino mice in each group. The study was carried out in 2 periods on the 1st and 11th days. In the first period, Group I (control I), Group II (saline), Group III (sevoflurane), Group IV (ivermectin 0.2 mg / kg), Group V (moxidectin 0.2 mg / kg), Group VI (ivermectin + sevoflurane anesthesia) and Group VII (moxidectin + sevoflurane anesthesia) groups were formed. In the second period, GROUP VIII (Control II), GROUP IX (animals in Group II were administered sevoflurane anesthesia on the 11th day), GROUP X (Animals in Group IV was administered sevoflurane anesthesia on 11th day), and GROUP XI (Animals in Group V was administered Sevoflurane anesthesia on 11th day). Neuropharmacological tests were performed in all groups after determining the duration of sleep. Sleep time analysis results show that both ivermectin and moxidectin increases sleep duration significantly when used concomitantly with sevoflurane. The long-acting moxidectin, which is a property of its formulation, significantly increased sleep time also on the 11th day. According to the open field test results, stereotypic and ambulatory motions were increased in treatment groups, while distance obtained with vertical and horizontal motions decreased. Our results show that; antiparasitic drugs change the duration of anesthesia and behavioral parameters. Our results indicate that antiparasitic drug administration requires dose adjustment according to drug interactions when administering general anesthesia, otherwise there is a risk of adverse outcomes.
