Abstract (EN)
This study was conducted as experimental and aimed to assess the effect of back massage and hot application on time of breast milk secreation, amount of expressed breast milk and breastfeeding success after cesarean section. The population of the study was consisted by women who had a cesarean section during the time of research at the Gaziantep Cengiz Gökçek Women and Children Hospital. Power analysis was calculated for the sample size of the study. A total number of 180 women who met the inclusion criteria were included in the sampling group, 60 in the back massage group, 60 in the hot application group, and 60 in the control group. In data collection; Introductory information form, mother-infant communication form, breastfeeding diagnosis scale (LATCH Assement Tool) and Scoring System for the Amount of Breastmilk Received by the Baby (IMDAT) were used. Data analysis was done in SPSS program. No intervention was made in the control group. At the end of the interventions, it was concluded that the women in the experimental group with back massage and in the warm application group produced breast milk earlier and the most effective method was back massage at the time of breast milk release (p<0.05). It was also determined that back massage and hot application, increased breastfeeding success, and the amount of breast milk the baby received (p<0.05).
