Abstract (EN)

'adjective', fundamentally, is an ontological and epistemological category before than it is a grammatical and even linguistic category. Indeed, it owe its working in linguistics and Turkish Grammar to its characteristics in the context of ontology and epistemology. Therefore, for adjective analysis, there must be used a criterion for analysis which must be formed based upon adjective's ontological and epistemological characteristics. In this study, such a criterion for analysis was formed. For this aim, adjectives, firstly, were classified based upon the beings' characteristics which are used in the logic. Accordingly, 'adjective', as a genus, was separated two species as of the adjectives which generalise the being that relate and the adjectives which singularise the being that relate. The sub-species of adjective were formed based on this separation. After that, adjectives were interpreted in terms of the moods that it had in accordance with the phenomenons which it relates; and the criterion became multi-dimensional. Accordingly, the characteristics of adjectives which can have in terms of 'mood for being' and 'mood for human', respectively, obligation and possibility/selectivity for being and obligation and possibility/selectivity for human, were taken into the criterion for analysis. Thus, there was formed a three-dimensional criterion for adjectival analysis in which an adjecive have an order in classification, a mood for being which it relates, and a mood for human which it shows the being that relates. After that, the effectiveness of this criterion for analysis was demonstrated exemplifing three example for adjective patterns which are shaped. Consequently, this study propose a functional based, logical, ontological, epistemological and three-dimensional criterion for analysis in substitution for formal based, impressionistic and one-dimensional criterion for analysis which was used until today. Key Words: Adjective, Being, Classification, Mood
