Investigation of alexithymia and depression levels in smokers and non-smokers

Cigarette addiction is an important public health problem in our country and in the world. It causes many physiological and psychological disorders directly and indirectly. Depression, in its simplest sense, expresses the state of emotional depression. It was included in the study because it has a high lifetime prevalence and is the most commonly diagnosed psychiatric disorder. Alexithymia, in the simplest terms, means emotional blindness. While alexithymia is a symptom of psychosomatic disorders, it is now seen in healthy individuals in the first years. It is aimed to examine the depression levels of smokers and non-smokers. The data of 404 participants are stated in the findings section. Depression and alexithymia levels of smokers were higher than non-smokers.
