A comparison of the demographic structure of Siirt province with Turkey and its interpretation for regional development

Instead of reading a lot of books, do research using a variety of complex data and analysis; there is a simple way to examine the potential level of a country, city or region. Using demographic data, i.e., birth, death and migration an inference can be made about the potential of the region. The results will present the positive and negative aspects of the region and will help authorities to make more robust planning for the future. Comparing two different countries, cities or regions by the use of demographic data to determine the potential for the region in focus will give important clues about the regional economics. Using comparison of the regions we can identify the advantages and disadvantages of regions for better planning and problem solutions. In order to support this view current literature illustrates that there is a close relation between development levels and demographic structures of countries. A comparison between demographic structures of Siirt Province and Turkey was carried out, and advantages/disadvantages of Siirt Province according to Turkey's average is determined. The results obtained from the study will be an important supplementary source for public institutions, NGOs, municipalities, universities and other institutions in determination of imperfections and as a help for planning in the future.
