Abstract (EN)

One of the problems encountered in roller compacted concrete applications is cold joint formation. Factors such as delays during application, material quality and additives are effective in the formation of cold joints. In case of cold joint formation in SSB, its strength, permeability and durability are affected. Many methods are used to increase the bond strength of concrete laid and compacted in layers. In this thesis, the effects of different binder ratios, setting retarder additives and interlayer bedding mortar on concrete strength and water treatment depth were investigated. A total of 16 batches of concrete were produced in 2 main series, with and without bedding mortar, at 4 different fly ash ratios and 2 different setting rates. Ve-Be and air content tests were performed as fresh concrete tests and compressive strength, tensile strength at splitting, direct tensile strength and permeability tests were performed as hardened concrete tests. The 270-day strengths were obtained by accelerated curing method. Fresh concrete tests and hardened concrete tests of the mixtures were compared with each other and the effect of cushion mortar on layer bonding on SSB was investigated. According to the results obtained from the studies, bedding mortar was found to be effective in preventing cold joints in roller compacted concrete and in physical and mechanical performance.
