Abstract (EN)
This study examines the relation between prophetic biography, which deals with the life of the Prophet and the science of tafsir according to the "Tefsirül Kebir"- the earliest book of Qur'an tafsir we have- was written by Mukatil b. Süleyman. Thus, the relationship between the life of the Prophet and interpretation and revelation of the Qur'an was studied. The use of prophetic biography data and sebeb-i nüzul narrations in the interpretation of the verses were addressed on the chronological. As a result, the facts and events in the life of the Prophet were the reason for the descent of many verses. The language used in these verses, the portrayals made and the persons mentioned are interpreted with respect to the events of the facts of that period. This indicates the science of siyer can be a good resource with respect to for the reason of esbab-ı nuzul and the explanation of tafsir-il Quran. Keywords: Quran, Sîrah, Mukâtil b.
