Probable factors which influence primary school teachers work satisfaction and the measurement of these factors

The aim of the research described in this paper was to determine the probable factors effecting primary school teachers' satisfaction and to measure the level of work satisfaction in terms of factors determined and in terms of variants mentioned in the sub-problems. The procedures applied to realize these targets were as fallows respectively: 1. Make a review of the literature related to the subject and then to create a written interview in which the researchers tried to determine the probable factors effecting the work satisfaction of primary school teachers. 2. Obtaining opinions of specialists in this field, researchers developed a measuring device to be used to measure the deegre of work satisfaction of primary school teachers. 3. The application of the measuring device upon 140 primary school teachers working in the town of Polatlı in the city of Ankara, during the 2000- 2001 educational year. The measurement procedure was done after receiving permission from the appropriate educational authorities in this area. 4. The data obtained as a result of the application of the measuring device was analyzed using SPSS programme. In the analysis of the data: frequance, percentage, arithmetice average, standard deviation, t-test and anova: one-way variant analysis was used. The data was tested at the meaningfulness level of p <.05. The result of the statistical analysis has determined that the work satisfaction of primary school teachers is neither satisfactory nor unsatisfactory Teachers show that the area providing the most work satisfaction is in the area of Communication and the measurement shows that SALARY is the least satisfactory factor.
