Application of active learning methods in class management (in chemistry education)

Since production of information today is very fast following up all in information has become very difficult .Huge amount of information increasing each day available for learning has lead to the new learning approaches be included in agenda.One of the most effective learning approaches developed both to excess more information in a short time and to incrase permanence of information is the active learning approach .In this study ,the active learning was primarily investigated to this effect,and then active learning and its application in chemistry education were discussed.Frist ,the learning approaches forming the basis of active learning was studied, and the methods and techniques used in active learning were examined thereafter .In this study active learning approaches methods carried out in class management and active learnings was primarily investigate this effect ,and then active learning and its application in chemistry education were discussed.In addition ,an application for active learning was also included in study .This application was carried out among the students of one of high school in Ankara on the ?Atom ? ,one of subject-matters of curriculum.The method of `group workshop ` was used in the application .Students presented their studies they have prepared on the Atom through creating cooperative groups .All qroups gave the answers to the questions asked by the class following completion of presentations.Thus ,a discussion media was so formed .Measurement was performed by a pre-test and post-test technique.The multiselective concept test of 20 questions were applied pre-and post application. Moreover,a questionnaire was applied to measure the attidues and behaviors of student during group workskop .At the end of evaluation it is clear that in class management for learning the active learning approaches is more effective and successfull then the traditional learning methods.
