Soda firing technique and its contemporary practices

The study called "Soda Firing Technique and Its Contemporary Practices" consists of three sections. In the first section the definition of soda firing has been given and a deal of information about the historical development of soda firing, soda firing kilns, and the artists working with soda has been presented as well as soda firing techniques. In the second section of the thesis, glaze and line recipes gathered from the literature regarding to studies on soda firing techniques have been experimented. Detailed information about the glaze features of the results has been presented. In the last section of the thesis, in line with the related studies, reviews and observations, contemporary ceramic forms in accordance with the soda glazing have been produced. Following the soda firing experiments, soda firing has been realized with the practice of successful slip and glaze recipes on ceramic forms. In the results section of the study, the gathered data have been evaluated and the results have been examined following the experiments and practices.
