Abstract (EN)
It was aimed to determine the identification and resistance status of 388 strains which were isolated from 1076 respiratory tract samples sent from various clinics to the Central Laboratory of Çukurova University Balcalı Hospital and which produced significant (≥10,000 cfu/ml). 331 of these strains were isolated from tracheal aspiration (TA) and 57 from Bronchoalveolar lavage (BAL). Samples were planted on COS (bloody agar), MacConkey agar, PVX (chocolate agar) and HAE2 (Haemophilus Chocolate agar 2) and the identification and antibiogram of the bacteria were evaluated in Vitek 2 Automated System. Antibiotic susceptibilities of H. influenza strains were evaluated in accordance with EUCAST criteria by disk diffusion method. The most isolated bacteria from respiratory system infections were A. baumannii, P. aeruginosa, K. pneumoniae, H. influenzae. The most frequent bacterial species in TA were A.baumannii (34.47%), P. aeruginosa (16.62%) and K.pneumoniae (9.97%). The most common bacterial species in BAL is H.influenzae (35,09%), A.baumannii (17,54%) and K.pneumoniae (10,53%). Resaults of identified H. influenzae serotypes 70.58% were Type b and 29.42% of serotypes as other serotypes (a, c, d, e and f). The highest resistance to H. influenzae isolates was also seen in Ampicillin (87,10%). All H. influenzae strains (100%) were sensitively detected in Ciprofloxacin, Levofloxacin. All K. pneumoniae isolates (100%) were identified as resistant to Ampicillin. Colistin (82.05%) was the most effective antibiotic. All P. aeruginosa isolates (100%) were found to be resistant to Tetracycline, Tigecycline and Trimethoprim / Sulfamethoxazole. All of the strains (100%) were found to be sensitive to colistin. All A.baumanii strains (100%) were found resistant to Piperacillin, Piperacillin / Tazobactam, Ceftazidime, Cefepime, Imipenem and Meropenem. The highest sensitivity was seen in the Colistin (100%). All S. aureus isolates (100%) were found to be resistant to Rifampicin. All of the strains (100%) were sensitive to Linezolid, Trimetoprim / Sulfamethoxazole, Fusidic Acid, Teikoplanin, Tigecycline, Vancomycin. Penicillin resistance in S. pneumoniae was found 42.86%. Key words: Antibiotic resistance, antibiotic susceptibility, respiratory tract
